Mass Timber is emerging as a fire-resilient and climate-positive building material. One of the City of Nelson's Building Officials, Manda McIntyre, was recently invited to partake in the International Mass-Timber Conference (IMTC) in Portland, Oregon.
Manda attended the conference on behalf of the BC Provincial Government and was able to connect with both the Minister of State for Trade and the Chair of the Mass Timber Advisory Council.
Participation in the conference provided
a unique opportunity to learn about the growing mass timber sector across North America - including British Columbia. The conference was also a great venue to establish connections with people and organizations who are all active in advancing mass timber.
The City of Nelson is proud to be on the leading edge of new building techniques that will help us ensure Nelson remains a safe and healthy community now and in the future.
