EXTENSION TO GARBAGE DROP-OFF DATES & RECYCLING UPDATE
The City of Nelson is extending the dates for residents to drop off their garbage bags down along Lakeside Drive across from the airport. The large metal bin will be in place all this week and next week, until the end of day Saturday, January 22nd.
Please do not put recycling in the garbage bin.Our Public Works crews WILL BE collecting garbage and recycling next week; however, with warming temperatures, we will not know the condition of the alleys and side streets. For this reason, we encourage those who can take their garbage down to the bin this week, to please do so.
We understand that some people are having trouble storing excess recycling. In speaking with the RDCK, who manages the two local recycling depots, they are asking for those who can hold on to their recycling until the next pick-up to please do so as they are also experiencing challenges related to the significant snowfalls.
However, if you are overwhelmed with recycling, your sorted recycling can be taken to either of the RDCK recycling depots at 70 Lakeside Drive or Grohman Narrows at 1201 Insight Drive.
Please do not drop off blue bags or boxes of recycling at the depots. All recycling must be sorted into the proper bins at the depots. Questions? publicworks@nelson.ca
