NOTICE TO PUBLIC - RESIDENTIAL GARBAGE
Option for Garbage Drop Off
Between January 5 – January 8, 2022
Due to the significant snowfall received over the holidays, the City has made the difficult decision to cancel the scheduled garbage & recycling pick-up this week.
We are currently focusing our efforts on clearing the snow and deploying staff to roads, sidewalks and stairs throughout Nelson.
STARTING WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 5th at 10:00am
Instead of residential garbage pick-up this week, we are placing a large metal bin across from the airport hangars at 90 Lakeside Drive where garbage bags can be deposited. There will be signage and space cleared for vehicle turn around.
The bin will be available from 10:00 am Wednesday, January 5 until the end of day Saturday, January 8. The bin will be locked overnight each night.
Please do NOT put recycling in the bin. The bin is for bagged garbage waste only.
We are welcoming City residents to drop off their residential garbage. This will assist both the community in managing their waste as the City focuses its efforts on snow removal.
Please ensure bags are tagged and meet requirements for regular service pick up.
Recycling can be taken to the Recycling Depot operated by the RDCK at 70 Lakeside Drive and, alternatively, the Grohman Narrows Depot at 1201 Insight Drive.
The next regular garbage and recycling pick-up will occur during the week of January 17 to the 21st.
