BC Transit has increased the number of passengers allowed on their buses so we will be resuming Monthly and Semester pass sales beginning Wednesday, July 8th. Pass sales were temporarily suspended due to limited capacity on the buses as a result of COVID-19. Nelson Transit may have to turn away passengers if the bus is full, but the increased limits will reduce the likelihood of this happening.
To help us create the appropriate “social distance” space on the bus with these new limits, we are asking passengers to try to find a vacant spot on the bus (whether it be seated or standing) that will give themselves and the passengers around them the most room possible. Wearing a face mask is also recommended and will add another layer of safety for everyone.
The new transit capacity limits are as follows:
Bus Type | Old Passenger Limit | New Passenger Limit |
Nova Bus | 20 | 32 |
Vicinity Bus | 11 | 23 |
International Bus | 10 | 15 |
Arboc Bus | 8 | 10 |

Note: The International and Arboc buses (with the smallest passenger limits) are listed as “Community Buses” in the Riders Guide and the individual runs they do are identified with the letter “B”. Please keep this in mind when planning your trip.
