CITY MOVES TO NORMAL WATER REGULATIONS EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
Friday, September 13, 2019
The City of Nelson is moving from Stage 2 Water Conservation Measures to Normal Regulations effective immediately.
Normal Water Regulations means that Even# addresses can water from 4:00 am-9:00 am, and from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, on Even # days; Odd # addresses can water on Odd# days during these same morning and evening hours. Remember, grass only wants an inch of water – or one hour of sprinkling - once a week, and the key to a green turf space is developing a strong grass root system through deep, infrequent watering.
Watering during permitted morning and evening hours means avoiding watering during the hottest hours of the day. You can lose up to half of the water you use to evaporation if you water during the day.
Water Conservation is a key component of our strategy to ensure that our water system is sustainable, now and for generations to come. Nelson’s citizens have stepped-up and markedly reduced their water usage over the last 20 years in response to outreach and education related to water conservation, and the City wishes to thank residents and businesses for adhering to restrictions so that we can ensure that we always have adequate water supplies for our community.
