POWER OUTAGE UPDATEJanuary 1, 2020 - 10:00amDuring the course of the evening and over night there were multiple power outages caused by many falling trees in multiple areas in the Nelson Hydro and FortisBC systems - most customers had their power restored by 6:00am.Currently in the Nelson system, power is out on the North Shore from Coffee Creek to approximately Eagle View golf course.It is expected to take until early evening today (Jan 1st) to restore all customers.For the most current updates, please call our 24 hr outage line at 1-877-324-9376.Nelson Hydro thanks you for your patience as we work to restore power to all of our customers.
POWER OUTAGE UPDATE January 2, 2020 - 9:45amAs of 3:00am on January 2, 2020, all customer services have been restored.Nelson Hydro currently has a certified utility arborist out doing line patrol looking for branches on the primary line to identify potential outages. Our crews will deal with these on a priority basis.In anticipation of the second wave of this winter storm forecasted, our crews are currently on rest so they are able to respond to emergent conditions as they arise.Nelson Hydro thanks all of its customers for their patience as we worked to repair the lines. POWER OUTAGE UPDATE - 7:30pmTo our Nelson Hydro customers - our apologies for not providing further updates on our 24 hr information line. Unfortunately, due to a phone line technical issue, the phone line is unable to be updated at this time.Hydro crews are working on the section between Balfour and Coffee Creek right now and we expect this area to be restored tonight.The Blewett section that is currently out is expected to have power back by morning.There are other isolated areas still without power and our crews are working diligently to restore power to all customers.The weather event last night impacted a large area of British Columbia, leaving thousands without power.We thank all of our customers for their patience as our crews work in wet winter conditions to make the necessary repairs to restore power to our entire system.
